Spring (March–May) – the best overall
Warm days (22–28 °C in Marrakech), green Atlas valleys and comfortable nights in the desert. It is also high season: book desert tours and balloon flights early.
Summer (June–August) – coast and mountains
Marrakech and Fes often pass 40 °C. Head to Essaouira on the windy Atlantic coast, or up into the Atlas Mountains. Desert trips run early morning and evening.
Autumn (September–November) – our favourite
Fewer crowds than spring, still warm. Perfect for the Sahara and for Agafay desert evenings.
Winter (December–February) – sunny but cold nights
Days are often sunny and 18–20 °C in Marrakech, but desert nights can drop near 0 °C. Snow on the Atlas makes beautiful views.
Ramadan
Dates move every year. Tourist services run normally, but some restaurants close during the day and evenings are lively after iftar.
